Someone named Jessica emailed me and said that they really liked how I drew the kids in my “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” fanart and wish that I would draw more kids like that. So I decided to draw a newsie in that style after seeing the newsie on Bobby Pontillas’ art blog. She also drew me a little something something.
His first day on the job, the new Newsie goes about his business in a way he has seen countless others before him. His socks are sufficiently gartered, his smile firmly spread upon his youthful face and his cigarette clasped between his jaws… Oh no! What will the rival Newsies think, knowing he is smoking the wrong side of a cigarette? You aren’t meant to light the filter, little Newsie! Run!
